The earth is as old as God for all we know. The Biblical time line of 6000 years is in reference to the age of man.

Don't "we know" that the Earth is about 4.5 billion years old, surely?

Guess what! If we agree that civilisation is only about 10,000 to 12,000 years old, and that the Biblical record can only relate to a relatively well established community, then you have the basis for those attached to the Bible to get a lot less heated about all this stuff. 6,000 years is not a ludicrous estimate to offer in an initially oral history of the Jews.

Then we can argue about some more interesting stuff instead. I am tired of fundamentalist insistence about things that are not even important to their own religious traditions. Most Christians and Muslims and I assume Jews reached this conclusion long ago and far away.

Proof the Earth is about 6000 years old:

It doesn't take much to blind you, put out a little BS and you are hooked. He has nothing but a bunch of fast talking BS arguments that I have answered in at least two threads that you have not replied to.

You are SO easily manipulated its surprising you can tie your own shoes which must be hard when you are under 6 feet and weigh over 250 pounds.

I am over 6 feet tall and weight about 218 and am 5 years older. So who led the healthier life, eh?

I don't like your BS answer. Give me something from scientist that gives the the consumption rate of energy of the sun and how much it has now and how long it will last. I don't know were you are getting your information. I hope it is not from that holy grail for atheists website.

Like I said, you can't think things through for yourself. That assshole kid, for instance, says the sun consumes 6 odd million tons of H2 per second. The first thing is, the sun consumes 4 million tons per second, his first mistake. The second mistake he makes is not doing the math. The sun is 1.99E 30 kilograms or about 1 E27 tons and in 4 billion years will consume about 1 E23 tons of H2, less than 1/5000ths of it's mass in that huge time span. If you don't believe me, look it up yourself, I am not your personal librarian.

Google 'mass of the sun' for starters.

However, if you actually did that you could then come up with yet another BS line about how that is just a theory and more bleat bleat bleat.

Just thank the Lord that He doesn't send the world an energy bill.

Thank you God.

The Holy Bible says God has reserved a time for the Earth to burn with fire and with so much heat that the elements will melt.

Now, this is what scientist think:

New research suggests that Earth will be swallowed by the Sun owing to tidal interactions. Even if Earth should escape incineration in the Sun, still all its water will be boiled away and most of its atmosphere will escape into space. Even during its current life in the main sequence, the Sun is gradually becoming more luminous (about 10% every 1 billion years), and its surface temperature is slowly rising. The Sun used to be fainter in the past, which is possibly the reason life on Earth has only existed for about 1 billion years on land. The increase in solar temperatures is such that in about another billion years the surface of the Earth will likely become too hot for liquid water to exist, ending all terrestrial life. -- Instead of billion, I think that should be thousand.
