Don't "we know" that the Earth is about 4.5 billion years old, surely?
Some say "they know" the earth is 4.5 billion years old, but do they?

"They" must be a privileged class of human beings indeed that can state with such clear certainty that the earth is "old" at all. Who cares, and what difference does it make whether the earth is billions or trillions of years or decades or months or days or...

If it makes no difference to you, then don't discuss it. It makes a difference to me because it is part of science and the age of the earth is an important part of the history of the universe and the earth and thus an important part of science. It is the sort of thing that should be part of general knowledge for almost everyone.
It is also the sort of thing that if you spread misinformation about (as many young earth creationists do), you bring confusion and misinformation to students leading to a misunderstanding of large quantities of science. The damage wrought should be evident to almost anyone who reads these forums and see the amount of unscientific nonsense that people believe partly because they believe in a young earth and are thus forced to reject about half of all scientific findings and they then struggle to reconcile this rejection with the fact that they are forced to accept large quantities of science just to survive in the modern world.

You misunderstand. Just because I say I don't care how old the earth is doesn't mean I don't care that there are those "who think" they know how old the earth is, and by declaring how old they think the earth is are subsequently responsible for the spread of not only misinformation, but are the one's who are responsible for the confusion.

Science CANNOT tell us how old the earth is by a long shot. I don't believe what "they" say, as it contradicts the Word of God, which plainly tells us that God created all that exists. God created. It matters little "when" God created. "Whenever" is all we really know about "when" God created.

The theory of evolution , in all its fantastic claims, is a direct contradiction to creationism. True science can and does support design. It is false science that takes the creator out of creation.

The only damage done would be to the theory of evolution, which is, as Dasa would say, false science anyway. Evolution is a fairy tale for grownups and not science at all. It is a bad influence on scientists, who try to adjust their figures to fit into the evolutionary model, so that they do not have to put up with criticism from all those scientists who want to believe in evolution so badly. ๐Ÿ˜

It's absolutely amazing how such clear BS can come from you YEC's. You figure all you have to do to destroy 150 years of solid science is to say It Ain't So Cause God Did It.

You can grouse about all you want but it is clear you and your buddies are in the vast minority of people whose minds are so closed they can't and you can't think your yourselves anymore, but rather let other people do your thinking for you.

Like I said, I bet you have not seen much of the real world like a close up look at the Rockies or walked on a glacier in Alaska or seen up close the hills of Thailand or walked in the caves at Qumran, or actually hiked down the slopes of the Grand Canyon, if you did you might have a different view of your YEC so-called science.

My solace in all this is there are less and less of you every year as more and more people can see the obvious, that all you YEC's and anti-evolutionists are quickly shuffling off to one side of history, the side that includes the flat Earthers, UFO conspiracy dudes and moon landing deniers. You are in, and always will be, in the far fringe of society.

Quit ranting and prove evolution old man. There is no science to back the theory of evolution. It's all smoke and mirrors. A mountain of theoretical postulating on a fragment of bone and a fossil.

Wake up! It's only a theory.

There are many discoveries in modern science that are proving the theory of evolution false. They have discovered that we do go back to two common ancestors a few thousand years ago, not millions of years. These common ancestors are a man and a women just like it says in the Holy Bible.

The discovery of blood vessels in the bones of dinosuars thought to be 40 to 65 million years old puts the estimated age of the T-rex in serious doubt and is a big blow to the credibility of the theory of evolution.

The discovery of the DNA molecule in living cells that contain the information instructions for making the protein building blocks of life casts serious doubt on life arising by an evolutionary process on the Darwin model.

Many scientist have turned away from Darwinism due to the discovery of such great complexity in life.

completely false. not a single discovery has "proven" evolution false. there are however, many new discoveries that are enhancing and evolving the theory of evolution. and this process is science working as it should.

I think that there is literally nothing true in the post you just made...

Sonhouse was not ranting...

Evolution has been proven...

There is a vast amount of science backing up evolution and precisely none disproving it...

It's solid reality and not smoke and mirrors...

There are mountains of evidence of many many many different forms backing evolution up...

Of the two of you sonhouse is the one who is not living in a dream world...

And "it's only a theory" is the much debunked cry of the ignorant and the stupid...

I was right...

There was literally nothing true in your post.

So many lies in 6 short sentences.

O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.
Grace be with thee. Amen.
(1 Timothy 6:20-21 KJV)

What do you mean by"without discrepancy''? You arguing for a different length of digits? Are you seriously trying to suggest scientists are trying to peg the age of the Earth down to the nearest minute?

What he is saying is by scientist claiming the Earth is 4.54 billion years, they are also claiming an accuracy of within about 10 million years. But they are really off by at least +4.539 billion years. ๐Ÿ˜

So, you are admitting the Earth is at least 1 million years old. Finally seeing the light I see.
