You appear to have accidentally edited out this part of my post:

(FMF does, even if he only presents that to you rhetorically or at private soirées).
What about it? You think it warrants a reply?

I am fully aware of the Christian perspective. But I don't see what's the benefit of you - of all people - regurgitating it here to Christians who already know what the Christian perspective is, especially when you don't subscribe to it.
I think it is quite important for Christians like Dive to hear it, having said previously that he doesn't believe altruism exists.

@FMF

Don't you think it odd/interesting that a Christian who believes Jesus died for the sins of mankind doesn't believe in altruistic acts?

Yes, to be precise about it is I am responding to.

Do you think the silly bit of banter at the end of your post warranted a reply?

I didn't agree with divegeester's take on altruism. But I understand his viewpoint. People ~ ordinary mortals ~ have egos that can benefit from altruistic acts. To my way of thinking, a genuinely or perfectly altruistic act is done in secret, where not even the beneficiary knows who the altruist is.

I think it quite telling that your question to Dive about his incoherent beliefs was apparently rhetorical, while questions to other posters about their incoherent beliefs are anything but rhetorical. Why does Dive get a let off in this regards?

He said that about Jesus's actions, did he?

When pushed on this point previously, Dive said even the atonement of Jesus Himself wasn't altruistic. - I forget his reasoning for this. - So it wasn't just ordinary mortals he was referring to.

One could argue that a rhetorical question is more erudite than rehashing something in public that the two of us have been over many times. I don't see how he has been "let off" at all.

Perhaps, in accordance with divegeester's hardline definition of altruism, he thought Jesus had something to gain by allowing himself to be executed for sedition.

Is Dive's position so weak to your thinking that it can't endure public scrutiny?
