Originally posted by whodeyNever forget that in a playoff system the better team may yet lose if they come out on a bad day, lose a key starter to injury, or simply have a letdown. Look at the NFL. How many teams have gotten hot during the playoffs and catch the 1st seed asleep!?! Since it involves opinion a ranking system is already flawed. Look at the Heisman. Winner runs for 200 yards less then runner up and scores less TD's. I think Gerhart was robbed. Had he lost to Suh, a truly remarkable player I'd have no quibbles. McCoy accomplished what no ohter QB may ever accomplish and loses based on one bad game. Ingram did not have his horrid game held against him. 1600 yd runners are a dime a dozen as are RB's. Winning 45 gms is out of this world.
If you look how the polls change from week to week you have to ask yourself just how accurate they are. Personally, I think they rank the best of each division in the top 20 instead of really trying to determine who the real top 20 really are. That is the flaw of it all.
Just looking at some of the bowls thus far, the PAC 10 seems to look a little weak. I mean, Oregon State, who almost beat Oregon, got spanked by BYU. In addition, Utah spanked California. Of course, USC just beat Boston College, but who really thinks Boston College is all that good? In fact, I don't think they were even ranked.

Originally posted by scacchipazzoOh no, what if OSU and the rest of the Big Ten goes winless in the bowl season? If so, instead of adding another team to the Big Ten, perhaps the Big Ten teams should join the MAC.

The Mountain West may go undefeated.

Cal has been exposed this year as a Jeckyl and Hyde team so their loss is no surprise.
The Beavers had a Rose Bowl berth taken from them on their last game for the 2nd year in a row. Then, they sunk to a meaningless bowl game below their position and this isn't the first time the Ducks have done that to them. They did not bounce back and it showed.
USC did what they had to even though they're in unfamiliar territory and could have slipped up against a motivated BC team.
Who knows what UCLA will bring; win or lose, they will not surprise.
I'm looking for good games from Stanford, Arizona, and Oregon.

BTW: What does the big zero stand for on your aviator? 😀
Actually, since he is on the road for the next week I could technically take cheap pot shots at him with impunity!!
