Two ninth inning come from behind wins keyed by the resurgent Drew Stubbs stretches the Reds' winning streak to 7 and their lead over the Pirates to 2 1/2 games. The Cards are now 6 back and the Brewers gone.

Houston and the Cubs first, so you're getting some bottom feeders. Then a showdown at GABP next weekend.
Originally posted by ChaswrayBoth great performances, but Hanrahan is scaring me. Walks and wild pitches are going to kill him against the Reds. I don't get to watch them down here much, but he looks over weight. I think I'd let somebody else handle the ninth now and then.
Pirates win 5-3 over Houston last night. AJ wins number 12 and long awaited prospect Starling Marte bats lead off and homers on the very first pitch he saw!
The balls hit off Arroyo, Simon and Chapman didn't fly very far; they scattered 8 hits in a 3-0 win that stretched our winning streak to 8. Coupled with the Nats' loss, it left the Reds and Washington tied for the best record in the NL.
Pirates rallied in the ninth for a nice win against the DisasTros and remain 2 games back. Cards are playing a bit better lately, but are 5 1/2 behind.
Originally posted by ChaswrayEven the most ardent Red fan would not have predicted before the season that our starting pitching would be the 2nd best in the NL (ERA). And 4 of the 5 starters are 26 years old or younger.
Reds are playing extremely well, what is it, 8 straight WITHOUT Votto....that's scary. Cards are not out of it, I think the Brew Crew has thrown in the towel. Hope the Bucs can get into GABP next weekend without losing any ground and maybe gain a bit. Should be a great series!
Hey, SC, your "best hitter in baseball" is hearing it from the Texas fans:http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/28/josh-hamilton-is-hearing-the-boo-birds/related/
The impending free agent is hitting just .190 with seven homers and a 56/18 K/BB ratio in 186 plate appearances since the start of June, which has seen his batting average tumble from .368 to .284 overall.
