Our 5th starter with a 4-7 record v. RA Dickey 15-3 and present NL Cy Young favorite. Mismatch?
You bet; the Reds hit 3 bombs off RA, including one from Scott Rolen in the lineup again after missing a week because of a bad back plus a 474 foot blast from ROY candidate Todd Frazier. Mike Leake throws a CG 4 hitter as the Reds win 6-1. The Dodgers are hammering the Bucs again, so it looks like the lead will be at 7 games in about a half hour.

Cardinals and Pirates are in the bottom of the 10th today after splitting the first two, so we'll gain ground on both during the weekend and be up by at least 7 1/2 games.
Yada, yada, yada, the Karma caused them to lose a game tonight.
Now back to winning!! 😠😛

Originally posted by no1marauderTrue enough, the Cards have their work cut out for them. We'll see how it plays out.
Pirates prevail in 19. They remain 6 1/2 out and the Cards drop to 8 1/2 games behind. If SC is going to be correct, St. Louis better get going; they have only 41 games remaining and the Reds 40. Next weekday against our boys at GABP might be their last realistic chance to make it a race.
Sorry, but beyond Cueto, I am not impressed with the Reds starters.
Broxton hasn't been much of an add thus far.
There is a lot of baseball left to be played.
In other news! The Seattle Mariners have won eight of their last ten and have the longest active winning streak in baseball right now with six in a row! They hope to extend that to seven with King Felix pitching tonight against the ailing Indians and are currently 7.5 games back of the Orioles for a wild card spot.
I think they can make the playoffs this year with the third youngest team in baseball! This is a sign of some good things to come for a franchise that has had many problems in the last decade.

they could catch Oakland.
Unfortunately, that leaves them on the outside looking in.

That would certainly tighten things up a bit. The only Cincy pitcher going that has
looked good of late is Latos and he draws Lance Lynn. Homer Bailey has been getting
beat up, and I think Leake will get pummeled. We'll see.
Originally posted by shortcircuitBailey pitched 7 solid tonight in Philly though Marshall let in 2 to tie it. Leake's thrown two quality starts against the Cardinals this year. In his last 5 starts, Lynn's averaging barely over 5 IP and has a 6.49 ERA.

Cincy sees him this weekend.
