Now Ronaldo is one of those players who can elevate a whole team when it matters. Let's see if he's surrounded by better talent this time around. I have always been impressed by Portugal's quality of football. Ronaldo can handle the Dutch.

The ball has been used in African Cup of Nations, Bundesliga, MLS, Club World Cup and Argentina Clausura. Therefore, those players are probably used to the ball.

There's always hope, but it doesn't look very likely. I think we'll pass the group but we have to beat either Brazil or Spain to get to the last 8...

Hopes are not high this time.

Ronaldo and the Dutch: Battle of Nuremberg. Van Basten claims that CR would require special treatment and in the first 5 minutes he suffered two horrendous tackles, one of which injured him and he had to go out eventually. Yay.

Yeah we just don't like divers, so we got rid of the problem quite early 😉

I do find it kind of sad to see a WC without the summery atmosphere. I miss the sun!!

I got a feeling you might hear from them now. What a great goal in stoppage time to draw the game-go NewZealand!!!

edit:mind you Slovakia were just sitting back waiting for something like that to happen to them

I'm quite impressed with the Ivory Coast so far. They seem quite good at getting to the goal, but lack the final bite to get it in.

Interesting, what Drogba and Ronaldo were talking about? Ballet? Fashion? 🙄
Another dreadful game, like most others so far. Teams are so scared to lose their first game.

Dreadful?

I thought it was quite good. Just because they didn't score doesn't mean they aren't any good. It's easy to score lots of goals vs a poor team, but in this game two strong teams were able to hold each other off. Drogba's move in the last minute was the only sad part I thought.

Shame he didn't score. I had forgotten how many awesome players play for Ivory Coast. I dare say they have better players than Portugal does. Good game too. Shame the diving (especially Ronaldo) and cynical fouls made. In the end I think the draw was the correct result, though IC were slightly better IMO.

Lots off effort and fighting, but too little clarity on the ball. I expected better... Our coach is still a mess. Ruben Amorim? He wasn't even supposed to be there! Danny out instead of Deco?

Meh.
