He did try to back out, so I don't think it was due to being malicious. But it was dangerous. If you look at how he caught his foot, the outcome could have easily been a bad injury there.

Yesterday the Danish coach, Morten Olsen, answered that a good result would be a draw. Even in his dreams he doesn't think Denmark can win.

Oh yes, we have high hopes in Denmark. 😞
You have a good team and one that most people are not counting on. I still think you were lucky against Portugal (maybe bias, don't know 😀, but Portugal actually played well and still lost/tied) but that doesn't deter from the fact that you have a solid team.

For Denmark to pose a threat on the counter would require the players to actually complete more than one forward pass in sequence, which is more than what have happened in the last two training matches.

Denmark with no injuries is an okay team, but most of the offensive lineup is lacking match fitness or are injured.

No bias there. Denmark were extremely lucky. I actually stopped watching the first match in Portugal after the first halve. I couldn't bear to watch anymore. One decent Portuguese striker would have finished us easily. Imaging my surprise waking up and Denmark won the game. I still wonder how you managed to miss so many huge chances. Also Denmark was lucky in the Sweden matches too. Maybe we can be lucky again today. 🙂

EDIT: Grammar.

So far Denmark holding their own and playing well on counterattack. Dutch are lucky to not be down 0-1. Denmark defends admirably!

I think too much hullabaloo is made about balls.
Today's Holland - Denmark game showed a lot more of the problem with the ball. Too many long passes went straight out, and I lost count of the goal attempts that went over the top. We're going to see a lot more free kicks in dangerous areas played short. It's probably the worst in Johannesburg with the altitude factor, but I've seen uncharacteristically bad long balls since the start of the tournament.

I thought it was a very good game honestly. Not fantastic, but quite good. Denmark were good defensively and played dangerously on the counter, like I predicted. At the interval it was denmark who had been more dangerous, though the result was fair enough for both teams. 2nd half was opposite, but the Dutch played very well defensively and in the end I think we deserved to win.

Well deserved win indeed! That striker dude inserted in a second half was awesome indeed. He created both scoring chances and should be a force to be reckoned with by rest of group and other once Ducth advance to knockout phase! Denmark is not bad. Just not good enough to hang 90' with the Dutch. Congrats!

Yes? This is why hoppy mentioned it. Balls FLY in Johannesburg. Good for golfers and rugby players going for posts from 55m out, less so for Dutch and Danish players used to playing practically under sea level.

I don't like this ball at all. Apart from being ugly as hell (it looks like a volley ball - and certainly flies like one), it seems to be way too light and easy to shoot. They should put some weights in it so it is actually possible to touch the ball without having it shot into Antarctica.

We'll just have to see as the tournament goes on, I've seen some erratic flight at sea-level too, but it's obviously a lot more noticeable at altitude. We'll see tomorrow how well Ronaldo does if Portugal get a free kick near the goal.

Well played Paraguay!

Especially if the Dutch decide to injury him from the start of the game, as usual.
