AOC added in a couple more tweets:
"Their decision lacks any scientific basis. It's rooted solely in the systemic racism that's long driven anti-marijuana laws."
And:
"Even the medical director of @wada_ama, whose U.S. arm issued the suspension, has said there is no evidence that marijuana is performance enhancing."
So what she is saying is that marijuana laws were passed because of racist attitudes (TRUE) and are now enforced in a racist manner (TRUE) and that organizations who base their rules on such laws are engaging in a form of "systemic racism".
@earl-of-trumps saidAs an occasional marijuana smoker I can confirm that it is not a performance enhancing drug but the IOC is an independent organisation with a set of well known rules concerning the use of recreational drugs regardless of that drugs legal status in any given US state.
Can we say "moonbat"...?
'IOC SHOULD RECONSIDER' AOC slams Olympics for suspending Sha’Carri Robinson over marijuana and calls ban ‘racist and colonial’
The New York Democrat, 31, claimed Friday the rule prohibiting marijuana use during the Olympics was an “instrument of racist and colonial policy."
https://www.the-sun.com/news/3211839/alexandri ...[text shortened]... nd now you know why I call them LYING LIBERALS, doing anything to pour gasoline on the racism blaze.
But I think the IOC needs to justify the inclusion of marijuana if you cannot be banned for having traces of alcohol or tobacco in your blood. I’m not talking about athletes turning up at events drunk or actually stoned, that would be a health and safety issue.

I got the quote right out of the link.

You have no excuse when you use dubious sources. Your OP is wrong.

@no1marauder saidIt was illegal? It is still a banned substance, testing positive for a banned substance prevents an athlete from competing.
You still don't know what "racism" is.
When Phelps smoked marijuana is was illegal; in the State Richardson smoked it it was legal.
And it's truly ridiculous you keep claiming to be a "libertarian"; a person being deprived of her chance at a life long dream (and possible added economic value) for making a personal choice to use a legal recreational dream would outrage an actual libertarian.
Those are the rules. To claim that person should not be banned simply because she is black would make you a racist by the definition most people function under.
@earl-of-trumps saidI did notice Marauder jumped all iver this one.
Point 1, you're an idiot.
2. This is is not about EoT's idea of what racism is.
3. It IS about AOC's calling the affair RACIST. get a grip.
4. I am a libertarian and I do believe marijuana should be legalized. This thread is NOT about its legalization
What do you think of AOC's use of the word RACIST
Keep deflecting, racist boy.
@eladar saidA great point, proving libs dont give a crap about rules, from uour neighborhood to the constitution, and everything in between.

@eladar saidStop lying; the claim isn't she "should not be banned simply because she is black"; the claim is the rule should be overturned and no athlete should be banned for smoking marijuana.

There is the further point that marijuana laws were put into place because of racist beliefs and are enforced unfairly (both of which are true) and thus the present, unscientific rule is "rooted" in systemic racism.
@averagejoe1 saidIf any rule is stupid and serves no useful purpose, it should be repealed.

Are you sooooooooooooooooooo "conservative" you can't agree with that?
@no1marauder saidWhy should we change the rules? Because she is black.

The Guardian links to the Sun's article so you can read it yourself.
Too easy.
@no1marauder saidA few posts ago you said that I was full of s**t because AOC never said the statements I accused her of.
You're complaining that she is telling the truth. Here's her text:
"The criminalization and banning of cannabis is an instrument of racist and colonial policy." End paragraph
Do you disagree with that statement? If so, the Brookings article should enlighten you.
Second paragraph:
"The IOC should reconsider its suspension of Ms. Richardson and any athletes pena ...[text shortened]... t, AOC is doing what she usually does; speaking truth to power. And right wingers hate her for that.
Here is yet ANOTHER quote of what AOC said.
Democrat Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blasted the decision to ban Richardson, calling it “racist and colonial."
"The criminalization and banning of cannabis is an instrument of racist and colonial policy," Ocasio-Cortez said on Friday.
https://www.the-sun.com/news/3213426/joe-biden-rules-shacarri-richardson-olympic-ban-weed/
------------------------------------------
You deflect from what she said that was quite objectionable and lunatical by showing *other* quotes of AOC.
Screw those quotes. We are discussing AOC's bodacious claim that the rules of the IOC are based in RACISM and colonialism.
------------------------
Still saying I am full of s**t, O great deflector??
BTW, all, read that article, it is refreshing to see Joe Biden take the right approach on the matter, "rules are rules".
@no1marauder saidYeah… but was that due to racism that she’s not allowed to use drugs? Or because it’s the bloody rules?
" Despite cannabis usage rates between whites and non-whites being similar, Black Americans are arrested for cannabis offenses at a rate of nearly 4:1, compared to whites."
