How did you 'outflank' Castro?
You did nothing effective - he simply stood down of his own accord.
That makes as much sense as me claiming Iceland defeated the US because Bush won't be your president for long.
Besides, Iceland defeat America?... that's just silly! It's like you're trying to trick me or something. Iceland defeating America... ha!

Iceland will outlast Bush, therefore they have defeated him.
Madagascar has also defeated Bush, for the same reason.
Edit - Both countries have also, of course, defeated Castro too.🙄

Yeah, people make meaningless statments all the time!
The point is, we got him! I don't know how many times I have to say this, a long-time opponent of the US resigned, and the US is still goin' strong. Who does that make the winner, huh? who?
Edit: I'll tell ya who! the America that's who! USA... USA...
Originally posted by bjohnson407You're not even American enough to fly our flag, you nincompoop.
Once again, you simply miss the point. I didn't say that the Bush got him. I said We got him. The America... the US outflanked Castro with our powerful democracy. When a specific American president dies or resigns America replaces him/her, and America keeps goin' strong. But when Castro resigns, that's it. No more Castro.
Even when he is replaced by ...[text shortened]... in trying to belittle our victory. We've waited a long time, and worked very hard, for this.

Just shows how strong Iceland and Madagascar must be.

After all, their policy has worked for every other US president - they have all gone - the victorious Iceland and Madagascar have outlived them all.

That's preposterous. You're just trying to downplay the US's greatness with a ludicrous analogy.
You claim the US, by doing nothing, has won a victory over Castro.
I claim that Iceland and Madagascar, by doing nothing, are about to win a victory over Bush, as they did over his predescessors.
Originally posted by RedmikeBut you can't honestly take yourself seriously arguing a position like that, can you?

The US has been trying to remove Fidel Castro from power for half a century. To say that we've done nothing is absurd! Show me the Icelandic plot to poison dubya's cowboy hat, then maybe we can have a Serious conversation.
is it any wonder that Cuba is "kinda poor"? might have something to do with a certain economic blockade. Cuba would do much better if they could do some business with their neighbour. but then again, that might show other countries that alternative economic systems might actually work.
and about the "letting the USSR park missiles there" thing: I always wondered why the US got so pissed of when the Soviets did exactly the same thing the US did (parking missiles in their neighbourhood) double standards?
