@athousandyoung saidhow juvenile are you?
A country is simply an area of land on the Earth’s surface so saying it was never a country is nonsense.
Arabs are not indigenous to Palestine.
you dont even know what constitutes a country?
@mott-the-hoople saidI’m middle aged and yes I know what a country is.

A country may be an independent sovereign state or part of a larger state, a physical territory with a government, or a geographic region associated with sets of previously independent or differently associated people.
@averagejoe1 saidIn 1968, Jews in America lobbied congress to pass a law making it illegal to show "Palestine" on American made maps.
@AverageJoe1
Why does it take SIX (6) maps to explain where it even is!!?!?!?!?!??

Maybe that's why you're having trouble finding it. Now, go look at Chinese maps. You'll see it. It's there

@rajk999 saidThe war was fought and ended. And then, the state of Israel was declared.
Ignorance at its best.
The UN approved the Partition Plan On 29 November 1947 by 33 votes to 13 with 10 abstentions.
The State of Israel was declared on 14th May 1948.
The War of Independence started a few days after.
@athousandyoung saidA piece of land can be anything - a province, a state, a territory, or just part of a country. A nation or country have specific characteristics one of which is a separate governing authority.

Arabs are not indigenous to Palestine.
So Palestine was always part of an Empire. Never in the history of that region were they an independent state, running their own affairs. In the end the British Empire had authrority over their area.
@earl-of-trumps saidThe War of Independence finished some time in 1949.

@rajk999 saidMarauder thinks otherwise. Who is right?

@averagejoe1 saidIts a fact that they were always a conquered territory, never an independent state.
Marauder thinks otherwise. Who is right?
@rajk999 saidBesides not being a fact (it ignores thousands of years of history prior to the Jewish conquest), it's completely irrelevant to the question of whether the Palestinian People have a right to self-determination NOW.

@earl-of-trumps saidYou seem to be 'on it'. Could you help us all out and answer those questions introducing the "Can you Nail Down Palestine" thread??

Answers all over the place, one poor soul tried to name a Palestine president prior to Arafat when there was none.
@averagejoe1 said?? The 6 maps riddle, a gordian knot? Is is an inconvenient question?
Why does it take six maps? The USA and the UK only take one map.
SIX maps?!?!?
@no1marauder saidWere the indigenous Arabs living in the land of Palestine ever an independent state? The answer is NO. They were always conquered territory, under the control of an Empire. Lands in those days were acquired by conquest so it was the norm. So it is a fact.

The Palestinian people do in fact have a right to self-determination. The UN granted both the Jews and the Palestinians lands which they can call their own. However this required compromise and a desire for peace, and both of these critical qualities were missing from Palestinians. The Jews had it and they set up a State of Isarel. The Palestinians chose war. The rest is history. One is now a respected world power and the other represents the dregs of the human gene pool.
So at this stage their chance for self-determination has evaporated.
@rajk999 saidThis seems to be a good take on it all.

@averagejoe1 saidYeah .. the Palestinians wanted all or nothing. They made their choice and they got it.
This seems to be a good take on it all.
