Data released by the German Interior Ministry on Tuesday showed that crimes in Europe's largest economy have reached their highest peak since 2016. The data, which sparked widespread debate, shows that last year, 41 percent of all crime suspects were foreigners, or persons without German citizenship. Foreigners in German represent only 15 percent of the population.

The Federal Criminal Police Office on Tuesday said it registered a 5.5 percent year-on-year increase in crimes in Germany, to 5.94 million cases in 2023. The data, presented by Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser, showed that the number of foreign suspects rose by 14.5%, with the number of German suspects increasing by 2.2%. Faeser admitted the impact of higher immigration in Germany on crime rates, but said her country would take measures to enhance integration.

Data showed that mainly migrants from Georgia and the Arab Maghreb were involved in crimes. Ukrainians were less involved than average because the majority of Ukrainian migrants are women and children. Despite the rising level of crime, Faeser insisted that Germany remains “one of the safest countries in the world.”

The number of suspects arrested rose by 7.3% to 2.246 million and 41.3% of them did not have a German passport.

Among the people without German nationality who were charged, 402,514 were described as refugees, asylum seekers and those who entered the country illegally.

In 2023, the offense of unauthorized entry rose 40% over the previous year, to 93,158 cases, while the offense of unauthorized stay increased by nearly 29% to 187,059 cases.

41.3% of 2.246 million is 927,598, so, that's the number of those arrested who do not have a German passport, and less than half of that 41.3% (402,514) are described as "refugees, asylum seekers and those who entered the country illegally." And then, of course, those who "entered the country illegally" can be arrested just for that: being there without the proper paperwork, and so becoming categorized as criminals in these statistical reports.

Indeed, just look at the numbers in the quote above: 93,158+187,059 = 280,217 arrests merely for "unauthorized entry" or "unauthorized stay." Almost all of these are likely to be among those 402,514. No violent crime, theft, or anything like that: just arrests for not having the proper authorizations.

So, find yourself a fainting couch, and take a breather. The German nation will survive. In fact, Germany will need immigrants in order to survive, given practically irreversible demographic trends. Same for Japan, and same for a lot of other developed countries.
