There's plenty of blame or credit to go around here; British policy in Palestine during the Mandate was duplicitous in the extreme.
But the US support for the establishment of the state of Israel is much more germsind to the situation today.
How much more conciliatory would Israel have been to the Palestinians and their rights if they could not have relied on unrestricted US support from day one. Which in itself is duplicitous given how severely the US restricted the immigration if European just before and during to the holocaust
There is a lot more to the establishment of Israel than the half hearted and opportunistic Balfour declaration

Why didn’t the Ottoman Empire give the Palestinians their independence, they ruled it a lot longer than the British
Palestine was always a territory until the US empire decided to establish Israel there for its own imperial purposes
