The alternative is 14. d5 as 14. ... bxc3 15. dxc6 Qxc6 16. Qxb3 is good for us 15. ... Qxd1 16. Rfxd1 b4 looks playable, if 14. ... exd5 15. Bxd5, and other moves allow dxe6 eg. 14. ... Bb7 15. dxe6 fxe6 16. Qxd7+ Rxd7 17. Bxe6.
Unless anyone sees a problem with it we should play it as the bishop gets in the way on c2.

Although yes I'd missed the consequences of the queen swap - hence the request for refutations...
Originally posted by DeepThoughtI don't think that line leaves us looking very good. After Kxf7, it's only two pawns for the piece. Plus, we're up against a bishop pair, we have doubled isolated pawns, and our majority's on the kingside. I'd say that doesn't look so good. After 14... Bb7 15. exd6 Qxd1 16. exf7+ Kf8 I'd certainly prefer 17. Bxd1 and after Kxf7, we're up a pawn. I'd say our position isn't quite as good, but it doesn't make up for the pawn the computer has lost.

I'm voting for 14. d5 (3)

No, he hasn't taken the bishop so we can move it 14. d5 Bb7 15. dxe6 Qc8 16. exf7+ Kf8 17. Bd5 and if 17. ... c6 18. Nxb5. So that gains us a probably isolated pawn.
