@kellyjay saidRead it again and don't pretend that you don't understand the subjunctive. Don't run away from this post just because it gets to the heart of why you sometimes come across almost as joyless and sanctimonious as sonship. Read it. Don't be a coward...
You must make things up as if I said them to prove your point.

In an alternative world where KellyJay isn't intent on beating his hairy Christian chest, maybe this would be his advice:

It is a pity, FMF. You were on the right path. Trust me. You were right to believe in Jesus. You may have lost your faith and now consider faith to be a function of cognition, but when you believed Jesus was real - when you believed he was real, just like I believe he is real - you were tapping into the truth. Don't forget how He transformed your life - you've said it yourself - how He affected everything. I hope you can return to that spiritual state. Never forget what the reality of Jesus meant to you. Let that guide you back. Now, your fate is uncertain. I don't know what caused you to doubt, to falter, to weaken, to question, but never mind that; I know full well I am not going to bully you back to faith with logic or silly doctrinal threats and warnings; I know that that is not how spiritual transformation works. Never forget the countless moments when Jesus - your belief in Jesus - carried you through the hard times and made you thankful for the good times. Don't let that memory and the lessons learnt from that experience slip away. You were right about Jesus. You were right to believe He was there for you. Regardless of how you feel about it all now. I will pray for you to be able to come to terms with whatever caused your faith to slip away.
Alas, in THIS "world", KellyJay's purported 'Christian spirit' only knows about "damnation" and the "Anti-Christ" and people "lying" about believing in Jesus, and everyone "deserving" to be tortured, and all the rest of the hairy-chested religionist and doctrinal stuff.

good place when they are not. I will not hide something I know to be true to
make everyone accept me. You know what the scriptures say about those who
die outside of Christ even if you don't want to admit it, and that is something they
need to hear, not yea, you were once a Christian when Jesus was never a part of
their lives by their admission. The argument isn't near as important as where they
are now, and you, supposedly a Christian, don't care about that.
Thinking happy thoughts about Christ is not the something as abiding in Christ,
knowing Him. Neither will anyone who is a believer in the truest sense of the word
turn because things don't meet some expectations in any area of their lives, for
they have picked up their crosses and are following the Lord, so the good and
bad things of this life will not choke the life out of them; they are not just giving lip
service to God even if it costs them their lives because their love for the Lord will
outweigh their love for everything in this life and their own lives.

@fmf saidYea, that is exactly right you don’t have a meta-narrative you have a personal opinion found only between your ears and subscribe that is all that there is, nothing but individual ideas on the beginning, now, and the future with nothing that encompasses everything like absolute reality would. Declaring no one can understand reality, we can only ponder about it, as if that was the only option, so says you.
All I am doing is not subscribing to your superstitious ideology. Do you think I will someday subscribe to it because of your witness about your faith and your peculiar reaction to my loss of faith?
@kellyjay saidWhat a load of pretentious waffle.

FMF was indeed a Christian and his fell away.
Deal with it!

@kellyjay saidYour "meta-narrative" is just your personal opinion based on your "between your ears" faith/speculation.

Stop being a prick about it.

@divegeester saidWhat do you care one way or another what I think? It is his standing before God now is all that matters is it not? Do you think being an exChristian is going to put him in better shape on the day of judgment?

All I have done is take him at his word, he turned away from a faith he believes is now false. That is not the same thing as turning from God, unless in your opinion our opinions make us Christians not Jesus in us.
