@ghost-of-a-duke saidWho said Christians have reached a state of perfection?
People who are not perfect are evil? Is that really what you believe Kelly?
Even the Saints say that they themselves are wretched sinners who can do no good without God, and they also commit sin still.
@philokalia saidCorrect there is nothing about me apart from Jesus Christ that is good enough. There are a few here who think they are better than others, but all of us come up short so we all need a Savior!

@kellyjay saidWhat percentage chance do you think there is that you might end up being tortured in burning flames for eternity for your own "evil and wickedness"?

@philokalia saidHow can a old lady whose never done any harm or held any bad feelings toward anyone classed as “evil”?
Would you appreciate a King who didn't punish evil doers?
@secondson saidIs this your “serious and considered” reply to the OP?
It's your replies that fall short of straightforward.
The Bible is clear. Those who reject Christ go to hell.
@divegeester saidLots of long answers to that. The most recent on page 34.

This one is perhaps the most direct answer.

@secondson saidDo you now concede that there are Christians here in this community who believe that the Christian God torments people who reject or lack belief in Jesus in burning flames for eternity?
Create a thread with a topic worthy of serious consideration.
@secondson saidYou promised that you would give this one a “serious and considered” response. But like sonship, KellyJay and philokalia you haven’t addressed my challenge in the OP. Surely this topic the topic of all topics which is worthy of a “serious and considered” response.
Create a thread with a topic worthy of serious consideration.
Your precious doctrine of death, eternal suffering, evolves from the literal interpretation of the scriptures in Revelation and a few from elsewhere. When taken literally the outcome of the doctrine is:
Jesus (the Lamb) will be in hell overseeing the burning alive of non Christians
The challenge is to prove me wrong, that when take literally it doesn’t mean that. Or accept that is all metaphors and symbolism.
Sonship, KellyJay and philokalia have spent there entire time in this thread trying to justify the literalism of it. You seemed to not even be aware who “the Lamb” was.
@fmf saidHe won’t answer your question as it’s his last piece of cover for his faux plausible deniability that none of it means what it is accused of meaning.

@philokalia saidDodge dodge dodge.

@philokalia saidI would appreciate his compassion and restraint.
Would you appreciate a King who didn't punish evil doers?
@philokalia saidYou were asked by FMF:
I was actually told that the greatest deprivation of hell is the eternal isolation from God since I was a young boy; I was recently told that the greatest deprivation is not just the isolation from God, but the total isolation from others, and the reference to the 'worm that dieth not' in Mark 9:44 is, in part, the conscience gnawing away at the person.
I was a ...[text shortened]... s, of course, terrible, and eternal.
Alright - do you have some other material you want covered?
"What is the moral purpose and the moral justification of using torture by fire?"
You were not asked for all that irrelevant waffle you posted.
@philokalia saidThe bible says the Jesus the Lamb will be in hell overseeing the eternal burning alive of people.
You haveliterally accused me of not confronting a thing when I have. You need to get a bit tighter & more precise with your language, and less sloppy.
Do you find this to be a moral or amoral?
@philokalia saidOut of your own mouth!
And no, I do not use the word torture much because it is the just deserts & punishment for wrong-doing, while torture generally implies an inherently immoral dimension.
wonderful!
