@sonship saidHave you noticed sonship how desperately divegeester, Ghost, FMF and the Rajk try to erase the doctrine of everlasting punishment that is so clearly put forth in the Bible by whatever means they can contrive? Including, but not limited to, ad hom and belittling criticisms, and yet are unable to nullify what the scriptures have to say about it?
@FMF
Do you now recognize that sonship and KellyJay believe that those who lack belief in Jesus, after they die, are tormented in burning flames for eternity? Or are you still insisting that nobody on this forum does?
I always go to the last verse for a bottom line on who is finally condemned - those who lack having their names written in the book of lif ...[text shortened]... ator?
Why should I fear that the authority of God is out of proportion to the goodness of God?
Clearly they are threatened by our faith in the immutable and infallible Word of God. We believe God and what He says, but they obviously don't.
There are many examples in the Bible of those that crossed the line, persecuted the prophets, apostles and the sons of God, and resisted the Holy Ghost unto their deaths. Their names will not be found in the book of life.
Jesus said after all, "my sheep hear my voice".
@fmf saidWhy are you asking me that? You should, from you vast wealth of knowledge and considerable intelligence, remember that God said "vengeance is mine".
Both sonship and KellyJay believe that those who lack belief in Jesus are tormented in burning flames for eternity as divine vengeance? Do you recognize this to be true?
Ultimately it is for lack of faith in Jesus Christ that one will suffer the wrath of God in hell, but their judgment will be based on their works as recorded in the books.
I take that to mean that the greater the sin the greater the punishment. Either way, whether light or heavy, the punishment will last forever. Neither sounds good to me.
@fmf saidThat's not what we were discussing back a few pages ago.
I have forgotten nothing. We are discussing whether you concede that there are Christians here in this community who believe that those who lack belief in Jesus will be tormented in burning flames for eternity. That is what we are discussing.
We were discussing divegeester's inference that Jesus was "in hell overseeing" those in it.
Can't you remember?
You lost the argument. You concede.
You know, you make being "tormented in burning flames for eternity" sound really awful. Please avoid it at all costs.
@fmf saidNice try FMF.
SecondSon insists that nobody on this forum believes that those who lack belief in Jesus, after they die, are tormented in burning flames for eternity.
How much intelligence does it take to make a misleading statement and mischaracterization of what another has said?
You obviously have a considerable amount.
How much to tell an outright and boldface lie?

Yes or no?
@secondson saidRegardless of what some other topic may have been at some other point in time or on some other page, when I am asking you about your view on 'torment in burning flames for eternity', then we are talking about 'torment in burning flames for eternity' and not something else.
That's not what we were discussing back a few pages ago.
@secondson saidDo you remember calling me a liar for claiming that there were Christians here who believe that torment in burning flames for eternity is real? Has your stance now changed?
Can't you remember?
@secondson saidBecause you used to be adamant that no Christians here believe in ' torment in burning flames for eternity' but now you seem to think there are, and yet you are unwilling to concede that you have changed your mind.
Why are you asking me that?
@secondson saidWhile I have no reason to believe anything you claim about "everlasting punishment", what I do find interesting is the inability to explain the moral justification for the punishment being the neverending torturing of people in fire.
Have you noticed sonship how desperately divegeester, Ghost, FMF and the Rajk try to erase the doctrine of everlasting punishment that is so clearly put forth in the Bible by whatever means they can contrive?
@secondson saidTo your way of thinking, what is the nature of the "threat" you think you pose to atheists? I think you are misreading the interpersonal dynamic and the substance of the debate here. How am I "threatened" by your faith?
Clearly they are threatened by our faith in the immutable and infallible Word of God.
@fmf saidYour condescension and superiority complex is appalling.
Do you still believe that nobody on this forum believes that those who lack belief in Jesus, after they die, are tormented in burning flames for eternity?
Yes or no?

@fmf saidDid you change the topic because you couldn't gain momentum with the last?

@secondson saidThe topic you and I are discussing is 'torment in burning flames for eternity'. I have been discussing this topic with you and others for over 50 pages.
Did you change the topic because you couldn't gain momentum with the last?
@fmf saidI called you a liar for saying there were Christians that held to the "torturer god ideology" myth you claimed they believed in.
Do you remember calling me a liar for claiming that there were Christians here who believe that torment in burning flames for eternity is real? Has your stance now changed?
It's a lie you made up.
My stance never changes, and neither do your obfuscations.
