We'll get there. You'll like us again.
I appreciate what your country has given to the world in many human disciplines, but I'll also say that part of the freedom that so many of our ancestors fought for (2 members of my family died in WWII) is the right to criticise and comment on our governments.
A right which Stang is using (in my opinion to poor effect, and with not an over-scrupulous adherance to proper factual reporting). And it certainly gives you guys the right to tell him to go hell. I just wish that somewhere in the middle of all this we could perhaps talk sensibly and make some progress on issues we disagree on, and the ones we don't.

I believe you're relatively new to the site, and I think you'll find that alot of the Stang-free threads really are engaging and thought-provoking. (Unless Shavixmir started them, in which case they'll be about some combination of drugs, public nudity, and odd sexual habits.)
I was actually on the site a couple of years ago, but then i didn't have internet access for a while, and now I'm back. I have to say I don't remember stang or shavixmir, although my favourite people for having arguments with back then were starvalleywhy, pradtf, and bbar, all for very different reasons. Some were to do with respect and enjoying the quality of disputation, others were to do with less savoury feelings!
I will say that (although i do tend to also jump into the same old arguments again and again) I have enjoyed some of the stang started threads (not necessarily for his contribution, although he does occasionally stumble across a valid point, if you use a big enough gun you will hit something) as an example of the vehemance felt between the left and right of political arguments, and the way it so polarises some people who would probably quite like to chat happily in the middle.

We're not blindly patriotic. If you would stop acting like a horse's ass and do some reading, you would see that an overwhelming majority of Americans are displeased, not just with Bush, but with our government in general. So we're not blindly patriotic. We just can't stand terrorist-sympathizing pricks like you.
I detest what America, as a nation, does to other countries and I detest terrorism.
I must be making a strong point for you to resort to such childish ploys.

Grow up. The world you want will never exist. The world you want requires the complete excision of testosterone, and without that, none of us would want to screw anyway, and without the ability to screw there's not alot of point in going on anyway.

I put a uniform on at 18 and served my country for eleven years, you terrorist-sympathizing prick. Now I serve my country in a civilian capacity. I've been serving my country my entire adult life. You want to bitch about the state of the world but not do anything about it. I did something about it. Your "stance" is the hallmark of a disaffected juvenile mind.

I've managed the development and commercialisation of a multi-million corporate energy and greenhouse emissions management system. I've spent the last year fighting a court battle against our government on social issues (this has been covered on national radio and tabled in parliament). I'm a volunteer fire fighter. I've helped run properties that provide accomodation and work for overseas travellers. I've helped organise an annual non-conventional environmentally friendly homes tour. I've visited schools for mentally impaired children and introduced them to playing musical instruments. I've applied for a government grant for a CD based children's story that teaches them to be helpful, etc.
You've put on a uniform and carried a gun.
It concerns me that you now continue to serve your country in a civilian capacity when you so easily label a person as a "terrorist-sympathizing prick".
By the way, violence leads to violence.

At least the government lost the electoral seat where I distributed the T-shirts (after paying for a permit) !
That would be too much like wearing a uniform.
