'Defending interests' 'pre-emptive strikes', patriotism and the self reciprocating culture/excuse for warfare as a means of combatting political means are none of those things. Do any of you pro-war guys really think that killing ...[text shortened]... forgettable? Have any of you done it and if so, did you manage to get on with your life?
the reality is that people sign up for the armed forces in peacetime for good reasons - both patriotic and personal - if no-one did this, the country would be unprepared for an attack by an aggressor, so we should be glad that lots of people do. but once they've signed up, they've agreed to follow orders, under threat of severe penalties for failing to do so. one reason for this is that the purpose of armed forces is to fight wars, and you can't have people opting out at the crucial moment. there are probably orders that soldiers in the service of a civilised nation would not be asked to carry out, but standard operations against enemy armed forces are not among these.

You would wait until your own family and loved ones were in direct threat and then kill? Do the expression DEAD MEAT mean anything to you? Have you bought a gun yet? You couldn't defent your family against a drunk thug right now.

Been there. Done that, and there AIN"T NOTHING WRONG WITH ME. And if there is....that's the price of FREEDOM. Just go about your daily business, but keep in mind, someone's out there keeping the wolf away from your door. Believe it or not.....you starry eyed jabronie.

Yes, I'd wait, killing in the name of freedom is just about the most ridiculous sentiment I can think of. Under what circumstances do you think an enemy soldier is just going to suddenly descend upon my house in times of peace? We have a police force to protect us from drunk thugs for the most part and that's just fine with me. Why on earth would I want to buy a gun and live with a fear of violence just over my shoulder?

Yes you don't want a firearm in your home, they're such frightful things.

It's much better to simply hide when the ghetto trash is kicking in the windows of occupied cars just outsaide your front door. 😠

And how does these current US 'interest defences' differ from actions taken by those blood-thirsty Nazis or cold war Russians you so love to bring up in your posts?

Yes, you are EXACTLY right. The US has invaded Iraq just like the Nazis did.... to conquer Irag and force them to be our 51st State, and steal all the oil from the rest of the world. You've been blowing to many flames out your as.

The sad fact is that professions of pacifism are often used to mask cowardice.

What's cowardice? Desiring to live without violence? Not being a patriot? Not wanting to die for politicians and fat-cats with their own agendas?

If we were all pacifists, who would fight the Aliens from Outer Space?
And you know they're out there.
