@kingdavid403 saidCorrect. The new body and the new life aka regeneration or born of the Spirit takes place when Jesus returns.
I'm not a "once saved always saved" believer. Judas is a good example of my beliefs on that subject.
Yes, we will have a new body as Scriptures tells us. However, for us, that is not until Jesus comes back for us. Look in the Bible and read what happened in Jerusalem, the moment Jesus died and gave up His Spirit. Many graves and tombs were opened and all the dead came out alive raised from the dead. Most miss this event in the Bible, as I did for some time.
Sonship preaches that he has it all now... NOW!! He does not have to wait on Christ return. His next step is becoming deified and will have people worship him.
I need no talk about redemption and regeneration. If you need to talk about these things, please feel free to do so, if you have any questions.
I do have a question for you.
First a little background to my inquiry.
The letter from Paul we discussed mentioned that for him to expire (die) pre-maturely was to be with Christ his Lord. "Therefore being always of good courage and knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are abroad from the Lord. (For we walk by faith, not by appearance) -
We are of good courage then and are well pleased rather to be abroad from the body and at home with the Lord. Therefore also we are determined whether at home or abroad, to gain the honor of being well pleasing to Him." (2 Cor. 5:6-9)
In brief Paul was saying should he die and be suddenly abroad from his physical body, he knows he would be at home with the Lord Jesus.
A similar thought he writes in Philippians 1:23,24 after Paul says for him to die is gain. He writes:
"For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain. But if I am to live in the flesh, if this to me is fruit for my work, then I do not know what I will choose. But I am constrained between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for this is far better, But to remain in the flesh is more necessary for your sake." (1:21-25)
If ( God forbid it happen) . . . BUT the place you are in now should suddenly collapse and you die, suddenly being abroad from your physical body, do you have the rock solid assurance that you would be "with the Lord" ?
God forbid! But IF you should die right now, would you be with the Lord ?
And do you have this assurance and confidence as Paul had?

Yes. How about you?

BTW, we're all gonna die; so there is no "God forbid." In 100 years from now, no one alive on this earth at that time will remember any of us; except Jesus.
@KingDavid403
I am a little unclear. Was that a YES you DO have the assurance that Paul had that he would be with the Lord Jesus if he should die?
I have such assurance because as he wrote in the previous verse I also (thank God) have this pledge of the Holy Spirit.
You could help by spelling it out real clearly.
Save the extras for a moment.
@sonship saidlol... omG. What does the word YES mean to you? I'm sorry, but you sure seem to have a problem with word comprehension.

"Now He who has wrought us for this very thing is God, who has given to us the Spirit as a pledge." ( 2 Cor. 5:5)
KIngDavid403, do you yourself feel that you have this assuring pledge of the Holy Spirit ?
This pledge of the Spirit gave Paul the assurance that he would be with the Lord should he expire, die and be suddenly abroad from his physical body. Do you have experience of this inward pledgeing of the Holy Spirit of God?

You should know that some believers in Jesus Christ will be physically alive when He comes again. They are those who will never taste death and have the unique experience of being physicall present alive on the earth at His rapturing of them to Himself in Heaven.
You must have read Revelation 14.
@FMF
Whatever. Why is your suspicious mind as screwed up as the picture of your face?
BTW I know I'll be hearing about this insult for a decade to come.
@sonship saidWhen you answer my questions, I'll answer yours; and, not until then. For some reason you think you're gonna control our conversations, not gonna happen.

I think the question you asked me, if your post was a Yes, was did I in turn, have such assurance?
Yes I do.
Which I already answered.
Are you now referring to what happened to me when I was born again ?
Is that where we are?
YOU have stated that you DO have the assurance of the pledge of the Spirit and you know you would be with the Lord should you die . . . therefore I should go back and talk about my experience of being born again.
Is that the situation?

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Theology. Biblical Studies was my Major. What do you think? I find your questions arrogant and condescending.

Relax. I'll take that as a yes, of course you have at least READ Revelation 14.
With your degree you also got to know God some then, I mean, either before or after ? I mean with intimacy as your heavenly Father? (Jesus' expression, not mine).
In this country USA you can get a doctorate and a title of Dr. of Divinity or Reverend So-and-So in some major denominations and STILL be as atheistic as the day is long.
For instance - Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
And I happened to know a professor of homoletics I think at Princeton Theological Seminary who described himself as a Christian Atheist.
So a degree could mean different things depending.
Simon Peter had no theological degree.
No disrespecting your training of education.
I am just considering is it consequential here.
