I would like to know myself. I say give him piece of your mind. But he is confused so he probably can do with some patience.

Jesus was real to me at that time just as Jesus is real to you at this time. I'm still fascinated as to why you aren't telling me I was right back when I had basically the same beliefs as you and that I am wrong now that I don't.

I'm amazed you care what I think. Since you so want to avoid what it
is you have done. You have admitted you spent decades playing Christian
and avoiding Christ at the same time. Then you want push that fake state
of being on all others who name the name of Jesus to make yourself feel
good I assume.

I have been open and honest and candid throughout our discussion. I was a sincere and committed Christian for those decades. The fact that I am not one now does not alter that fact.

"Push"? "Fake"? "Feel good"?

Not quite, you keep avoiding the only point I keep asking you to address
directly. Which is when you were a Christian even though you believed it,
it wasn't real. The fact that you reject your old beliefs suggest that what
you had was not worth keeping, because it wasn't really part of reality.

So you are left with making the claim that those that do hold your old
beliefs, have all bought into something false. I don't know why this eats at
you to the point of trying to convince me that you are justified in this claim.

Believe what you will, make whatever claim that helps you sleep at night.
Jesus Christ is alive, beyond that the rest is just small stuff.

Surely, as a Christian you believe I was right to believe what I did when I was a Christian?

Well I don't subscribe any longer to the things that Christians claim about Christ, if that's what you mean. But I have stated this plainly over and over and over again.

Well I didn't want to keep on being a Christian once my beliefs changed. When I sincerely believed that I walked with God and had Jesus in my life, do you think ~ at that time ~ I was wrong? Is not believing that one is walking with God and having Jesus in one's life not what being a Christian is all about? Are you not a Christian yourself and is that not what you believe about yourself?

Yes, I do believe that being a Christian is having Jesus in my life, which is
something you currently deny! I grant you claimed you did, but now you
deny which means either one or the other was really true.

I again am not disputing you once made the claim you had Jesus in your
life, I'm simply pointing out to you, that you now deny it. Since you now
deny it, I take your word for it. I'm taking your word for it that you never
had Jesus in your life, while at the same time agreeing with you that you
once made the claim.

It doesn't matter! It only matters if Christ was and I mean was in your life.
The beliefs you have about anything does not affect the reality of that being
real or not. I would have accepted you saying life didn't turn out like I
wanted, I didn't get what I wanted, so I turned my back on Jesus. That
would have been walking away from God, falling away for some earthy
reason known only to you at this time.

Just simply saying I lost my faith is about as meaningless as you can get!
Either Jesus was real or not, if you can deny Him as being real, how can
you claim what you had was real?

When you made the claim of being a Christian, I don't have any idea what
you thought made one a Christian. Was it Jesus Christ, or just something
you were told about, but never really experienced, since you found it to be
lacking?

Personally, God in Christ is the best part of life! He is my sure foundation
who has seen me through good and bad times. I cannot see any force in
Heaven or Earth plucking me out of His hands. I can see me struggling, but
He began a work in me and trust He will complete it. That is not bragging
on me, but trusting in Him.
