@philokalia saidBut you ARE certain that people will be burnt alive in Hell?
This is the first time a Christian has suggested that I should know these things.
Somehow that little nugget has slipped into your nasty little consciousness and has found permanent residence.
@kellyjay saidLike I said in another thread, religion corrupts the morality of man, leading them to ask such questions as the one you just asked.
What if love demands Hell?
@ghost-of-a-duke saidWe respect the autonomy of others, and we also hold them accountable for their actions, don't we?
Like I said in another thread, religion corrupts the morality of man, leading them to ask such questions as the one you just asked.
@divegeester, I have only said what is obvious and what is taught concerning the Bible, and have not overstepped the boundaries of man's knowledge on these things, at least not knowingly.
I am sorry -- I just can't claim to know more, and I'll have to leave it at that. ^^
Now, would you like to tell us why you think the Bible does not actually suggest hell?
@divegeester saidTalking to me about why I deserve to be tortured in burning flames for eternity on this thread, Philokalia has said 'You reject the Gospels', 'You reject the Gospels', 'You reject the Gospels' numerous times. Lack of belief in Jesus seems to be Philokalia's reason for people to be tortured.
But you ARE certain that people will be burnt alive in Hell?
@fmf saidThe reason that people enter hell is because they do not repent of their sins and continue in them, and they reject the salvation that is provided through God. That salvation comes through the Gospel.

It is a choice to reject God, and after our God is rejected, you do not enter His Kingdom, but exist outside of it, which is hell. This was not His wish for you, but the wish for yourself, and He respects your autonomy and free will.
What is controversial about this is that you have rejected a gift that is not just free, but obviously is an obligation for people: for it is clear to us all that we fall very short of the glory of Christ, and require a lot of work to begin living up to those standards.
Do you have any more analysis or takes on this, or are we done here?
@philokalia saidNo we are not done roasting you; you grotty little racist weasel. You say absolutely nothing of meaning or substance.
Do you have any more analysis or takes on this, or are we done here?
Here is my post from the previous page which you conveniently ignored.
Oh now you “know little” and you cannot “be sure”...
But you have said that ARE sure, that you know that people will be burnt alive in Hell, right?
Even though you don’t know (let’s make a list):
- how they are sent there
- why they are sent there
- whether they will just be non Christians
- whether or not “that scripture” says Jesus the Lamb will be overseeing it
- what pretty much anything means about anything
EXCEPT that people WILL be burned alive in Hell, you ARE certain of that.
@philokalia saidSee my post above.

Ok, I say that hell exists because of the references to hell existing in the Bible, often coming from Christ Himself.
You believe in Jesus Christ and the Bible, so I imagine it now falls on you to say why those passages which indicate hell is real are something else or that perhaps hell is temporary.
That seems like the next natural progression in a debate between Christians about hell.
@philokalia saidI bring you back to the SPECIFICS of my OP.

You, SecondSon, sonship, KellyJay, LemonLime and others believe in eternal suffering based on the scriptures in revelation.
The SPECIFIC outworking of which can be summed up as
Jesus will be in hell overseeing the eternal burning alive of non Christians.
This is what that doctrine means.
You are welcome to take on the proprietors of the doctrine of eternal suffering, or you can prove me wrong, or you continue to be a flaky little knob who stands for nothing except something St Penis of Antioch said while sitting in his allotment 1000 years ago.
@philokalia saidYour recital of rote-learned dogma is a waste of time. You can come back and answer the moral questions I've put to you, and which you have dodged, anytime you like.

@fmf saidPlease state the moral question succinctly.
Your recital of rote-learned dogma is a waste of time. You can come back and answer the moral questions I've put to you, and which you have dodged, anytime you like.
I've responded to accusations of cruelty by showing that this is a personal choice we all make to eschew God, but I'd like a specific question from you to wrangle.
Let's not beat around the bush.
@philokalia saidThis stance is truly risible.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidYou don't believe in a god, so what or how could a man be corrupted man would be what man is due to natural processes? I think it was Richard Dawkins who said we are just dancing to the DNA; we have nothing more. If a man came up from dead earth nothing more than an animal with a slightly higher intelligence that sprang forth from evolutionary processes, therefore that is no design or purpose. If evolutionary processes are what is at play with man, how could man be corrupted? Corruption requires a state that is fell from that it is supposed to be in, and you deny that.
Like I said in another thread, religion corrupts the morality of man, leading them to ask such questions as the one you just asked.
Another thing you are doing is refusing to back up your claims about love and judgment eternally! You keep asserting it, but refusing to engage in questions about that claim your making, if you cannot defend why are you repeating it. You think it is an absolute truth, support why that would be true for me as well as anyone else!
"Like I said" is not proving your point!
